Introducing the YAC Young Leaders Pathway

From joining to leading the way: the Young Leaders Pathway supports 16-17-year-olds to build skills, confidence and experience through YAC. The Young Leaders Pathway is a new programme for volunteers aged 16-17 who support their local YAC branch. Developed through more than two years of consultation and co-curation with YAC members, volunteers and youth engagement specialists, the pathway provides a framework to help young people grow in confidence, develop new skills and gain recognition for their achievements.

Colchester YAC remembers Barbara Butler

We at YAC HQ are sad to share that Barbara Butler, long-standing leader of Colchester YAC sadly passed away in December 2025. Barbara was involved in Colchester YAC for many years and took over as branch leader in 2006. With thanks to Barbara’s dedication to the group, Colchester YAC is continuing to deliver archaeological opportunities to young people in Colchester with a passionate team of volunteers and young leaders.

Three YACs receive grants from the Bristol & Gloucestershire Archaeological Society
