The Powell-Cotton Museum offers an exciting, fun and interactive day out for all. Join us on a safari and discover awesome animals in our natural history galleries. Journey across land and learn about world cultures with our amazing collection of ethnographic objects, art and archaeology. Throughout the year, we offer an exciting programme of events and activities, as well as temporary exhibitions.

Our archaeology collection is centred on the work of Antoinette (Tony) Powell-Cotton. She was the first female archaeologist to work on Thanetโ€™s coastline, specifically Minnis Bay. She began her work in the late 1930โ€™s and excavated 30 wells and a great number of pits along the Minnis Bay coastline, producing artefacts dating from the Bronze Age through to Medieval. Materials range from pottery through to wood and leather.

We regularly offer additional family-friendly activities to add a special element to your day out.
