Part of Hadrian’s Wall, Chesters is also the best-preserved Roman cavalry fort in Britain. You can easily see what life would have been like here at the Empire’s northern outpost as you wander round the officers’ quarters and explore the well-preserved baths and steam room. Inside the museum there’s also an amazing collection of Roman items found during the excavation of the wall.
