Canterbury YAC

Canterbury YAC welcomes all young people aged 8 to 16. We have loads of fun exploring archaeological sites and historic places, trying out traditional and never-before-seen crafts, joining real excavations, and much more.
It’s a fantastic chance to experience archaeology firsthand with experienced and passionate volunteers, make new friends, and enjoy unique adventures together.

We normally meet on the second Saturday of the month for 2 hours between 10.30 and 12.30.

From September 2025, our club will be primarily based at the University of Kent, giving members access to a vibrant hub of learning and discovery. Thanks to our close ties with local professional and community archaeological/ historical groups, our meeting locations often varies especially between April and October, when we aim to get members out on site at active archaeological excavations or visits to historical places.

Membership is limited to 24 places, ensuring a friendly atmosphere and a strong leader-to-member ratio. We currently have a short waiting list, so early enquiries are encouraged.

The annual membership fee (to June 2026) is £35, with reduced rates available for those joining later in the year. There are no individual meeting fees, though occasionally members may contribute towards entrance costs when visiting historic sites.

Canterbury YAC is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. To learn more about how YAC recruits volunteers and ensures children are well supported, please visit the YAC main website.

If you would like to be part of our exciting journey into the past, simply get in touch with the Canterbury YAC team using the details above—we would love to welcome you.
