Make a Victorian Christmas Snowflake

Many of the decorations found in a Victorian home would have been homemade. They would make ornaments out of fruit, nuts, and pinecones as well as making other decorations out of scrap paper – try using some old Christmas cards! – Celyn Gale

Time Required: 1 hour

Step 1

Cut out strips (6 or 7 will do) of your chosen scrap paper.

Step 2

Glue the ends together.

Step 3

Arrange the paper strips into a circle and glue all the end pieces together.

Step 4

Find an image for the centre of the snowflake by looking through the magazines/cards etc. and cut around it with scissors. You can even decorate the centre piece with glitter.

Step 5

Glue your centre piece to the middle of your snowflakes. Use the ribbon/string to hang your snowflake on your tree.
