Ask the Archaeologist Special with Raksha Dave!
YAC has teamed up with super-duper archaeologist, award-winning children’s author, and Honorary President of the Council for British Archaeology, Raksha Dave, to run a new competition for our members.
To celebrate her brand new book The Archaeologist’s Discoveries, Raksha will be launching the competition via a special video message for YAC members in which she will also answer questions from YAC members!

Here at YAC we love to encourage young archaeologists to ask questions, and created our online Ask the Archaeologist initiative to create an opportunity for everyone to have this opportunity. For a limited opportunity, our guest archaeologist will be Raksha Dave!
Raksha is a Field Archaeologist, Public Archaeologist, and Broadcaster. A graduate of the UCL Institute of Archaeology, she has excavated on projects all over the world, as well as working as a UK-based commercial field archaeologist. With experience in time periods spanning prehistoric to the Second World War, Raksha has worked on various popular archaeology programmes including Time Team and Hidden Wonders with Sandi Toksvig. Raksha is passionate about helping more people get involved in archaeology. She is President of the Council for British Archaeology and has previously been a patron for the Young Archaeologists’ Club.
Raksha is publishing her second children’s book, which explores archaeological discoveries from around the world, and we’re very excited about it!
Raksha’s book features ten treasures, including Ötzi’s copper axe (from prehistoric Europe), Tutankhamun’s sandals (from ancient Egypt), and the Chacoan jet frog (from Chaco Canyon, New Mexico). The book explores how precious ancient treasures are – not for their gold, but for the stories they reveal about the past.
To celebrate the launch, we’ll be running a competition to win a copy of The Archaeologist’s Discoveries. Raksha will also be answering your archaeological questions in a special Ask an Archaeologist Q&A video, where she will officially launch the competition.
