Have you ever been to famous sites around the world like Pompeii, and met any other archaeologists there? (Cosette, 10)

Hello Cosette,

I have been to a few sites around the world, including Pompeii. Unfortunately I did not meet any of the archaeologists there as I was always going during my holidays and not to work. Among my favourite sites are Kaupang in Norway, the Minoan palaces of Crete (especially Knossos and Malia), the Tombs of the Kings and the site of Nea Paphos in Cyprus, many sites in Greece, Newgrange in Ireland, the Cathare castles of the south of France etc. To be honest, there are so many interesting archaeological sites in every country, and the best known ones (the most touristy ones) are not always the ones you necessarily will find the most interesting. Last time I was in Italy I visited a Roman villa in Positano and it really was a hidden gem. Sometimes it is good to get off the beaten track and discover other, less known sites.
