Formerly known as ‘Amberley Chalk Pits’, we are a museum of industrial and working life in South-East England. Explore 36 acres of transport, heritage craft and communications history, set within the grounds of a former chalk quarry and lime kiln, itself a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Historic buses and a narrow-gauge railway run every open day to transport you around the site.
A Local Wildlife situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, we are also well placed to tell the story of chalk, flint and their role in prehistory, as well as that of the natural history of the area.
A visit to Amberley Museum usually means a full day out. Amberley Museum is just steps away from Amberley train station, on the main line from Portsmouth to London. We also have a free onsite car park. You may like to check our accessibility web page to help you plan your visit.
Please remember to bring your YAC pass to gain free entry. Our offer can also be redeemed on event days but booking in advance is essential through our website.
We also offer workshops for YAC groups on industrial history and prehistory: please email learning@amberleymuseum.co.uk for more details. Our YAC Pass offer doesn’t apply to group visits.
Offer for YAC Pass holders:
