Oban YAC

Oban Young Archaeologists’ Club is open to everyone aged 8–16 years. The YAC club gets involved in all sorts of activities, including visiting or investigating archaeological sites and historic places around the town, trying out traditional crafts, taking part in excavations, and learning about the science of archaeology.  We explore all eras of human history in Oban and surrounding areas, such as the hunter-gathers, the Picts, Gaels, Vikings, and Victorians.

The Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) is the only UK-wide club where 8–16 year-olds can participate in real archaeology and discover why it matters. If you want to become a professional archaeologist in the future or just feel like taking up an amazing new hobby, YAC is the right place for you!

After a successful summer of activities in 2025, Oban YAC is currently on pause with a view to restart in summer 2026.
