Aylesbury YAC
Aylesbury YAC is open to anyone aged from 8 to 16 years. Based in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, the club usually meets once a month, on a Saturday morning from 10.00 to 12.00.
YAC aims to involve young people in archaeology, local history and heritage by:
- Creating fun ways to investigate the past
- Encouraging a greater understanding of archaeology
- Developing awareness of local and national heritage

About Aylesbury YAC
The club normally has a theme for each year. Examples of themes from recent years include:
- Industrial Archaeology
- Britain at War
- Prehistory
- Technology
- Invasion!
- The sea and seafaring
- Romans
- Saxons, Vikings and Normans
- Local history
- World archaeology
Although many of our sessions are classroom-based, we organise at least one full day outing each year. We have visited such attractions as the Cutty Sark and National Maritime Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, West Stow Anglo-Saxon village and World War I trenches at RAF Halton. We have had the opportunity to take part in some excavations and carried out our own survey work at local sites. One year we even set up our own prehistoric camp!
We currently charge a fee of £3 per session, with additional costs for trips or fieldwork. We provide drinks and biscuits and all materials for each session.
A team of volunteers runs the club: if you want to know more about how we recruit YAC volunteers and make sure children at YAC clubs are well looked after, check out our FAQs.
