With a history stretching back 1,400 years, Canterbury Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. King Henry IV and the Black Prince are buried here, while Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered inside in 1170. The Gothic-style architecture has amazing details to discover, from stained glass windows to impressive statues, while outside in the gardens you can still see the ruins of the Medieval monks’ dwellings. You can book on to a guided tour to learn more about the Cathedral’s history and there are trails and information sheets available to download from our website before you visit.

Opening hours are currently 10.00-16.00 Mondays to Saturdays and 12.30-16.00 Sundays (last entry 15.00 all days) Please check the website prior to visiting as opening times may vary and the Cathedral might close at short notice for services.

We have a Kids Go Free scheme – Children aged 17 and under get free entrance to the Cathedral when accompanied by a paying adult (maximum two children per paying adult; offer does not apply to group bookings). Offer ends 31 October 2021. Entrance tickets must be purchased online at www.canterbury-cathedral.org
