Safeguarding Induction and Training

Each YAC branch is required to have two leaders undertake the NSPCC online training course organised by YAC-HQ.

All new CBA-managed YAC branches applying to join the YAC network will be required to undertake training before they can launch.

Training must be renewed every three years. YAC-HQ keep a log of training and will let you know when your branch/leader needs to renew their training.

If you have any queries or concerns about the training please contact yac@yac-uk.org

Safeguarding Induction

In addition to the two trained safeguarding volunteers at each branch, every YAC volunteer must undertake a ‘Safeguarding Induction’ before volunteering with the group. This takes roughly an hour and should be delivered by one of the two YAC leaders responsible for safeguarding at your YAC branch. It is the responsibility of the YAC Leader(s) to ensure that this takes place.

The induction is based on the information outlined in the Safeguarding Children section of the YAC website, which is taken from the Safeguarding Policy: Children and Adults at Risk Policy.

The topics to be covered are as follows:

·        How to recognise a concern about safeguarding or wellbeing

·        How to respond to a concern

·        An overview of the current safeguarding policies

·        Code of Behaviour

All the information needed to undertake the induction, including easy to follow instructions, are available in the Safeguarding Induction document.

Again, if you have any queries or concerns about the training please contact yac@yac-uk.org
