COMPETITION! You Wouldn't Want to Be...
For our Christmas competition this year, we're thrilled to be working with the fab folks from Book House (part of the Salariya Book Company).
They've donated six of their award-winning 'You Wouldn't Want to Be...' books (worth more than £40!), for us to give away to one lucky winner!
You Wouldn't Want to Be...
These brilliant books describe what your life would be like if you were unfortunate enough to find yourself in an horrendous historical horror show! You really wouldn't want to be in any of the situations described, because there would have been a very real chance of serious injury, awful living conditions and – in many cases – almost certain gruesome death!
For our competition, we've got copies of the following books to give away:
• You Wouldn't Want to Be an Aztec Sacrifice
• You Wouldn't Want to Be a Roman Gladiator
• You Wouldn't Want to Be an Egyptian Mummy
• You Wouldn't Want to Be an Anglo-Saxon Peasant
• You Wouldn't Want to Be a Slave in Ancient Greece
• You Wouldn't Want to Be a Viking Explorer
To be in with a chance of winning these brilliant books, we just want you to tell us which historical person you would like to be!
You could choose a named person, like Florence Nightingale or Neil Armstrong, or you could choose a type of person, like a Mesolithic hunter-gatherer. They can be from any historical or archaeological period, and from anywhere in the world. Just imagine you have a time machine!
Once you've decided who or what you would like to be, email us your idea to firstname.lastname@example.org – make sure that you tell us why you have made your choice!
This competition has now closed.
Congratulations to our winner, Archie Brookes
Archie would want to be... a Beefeater from the Tower of London. You can read his answer, and our other favourites, here.
