YAC-Museum of Cannock Chase was launched in August 2014. In attendance at the launch was the Staffordshire County Archaeologist Stephen Dean and of course the YAC leaders Diane Lear-Hargreaves and Penny Lock.
We are open to everyone aged 8 - 16 years. We hold meetings on the third Saturday of the month. We hold sessions at The Museum of Cannock Chase, Hednesford, Staffordshire, but also visit a variety of historical and archaeological sites.
Places we have visited : Tamworth Castle, The National Memorial Arboretum, Blists Hill, Ironbridge, The Broseley Pipe Museum, Excavation at the Museum of Uttoxeter Life. Field walking in the local area. We have had visits from a variety of archaeological professionals. At present we are putting together a project to clear a local historical site. We have also helped members gain their D of E award using their membership as part of the skills section.
The Club also takes part in the annual CBA Festival of Archaeological putting on an archaeological day in July, where we put on activities and have living history interpreters.
The group is run by leaders Diane Lear-Hargreaves and Penny Lock, Assistants Robert Hargreaves, Ian Bedworth and Martha Mansfield.
