Whats On ... 2019

Barnsley and Rotherham YAC are a new club formed in May 2018 with an exciting and varied upcoming sessions. See what's going on in 2019/2020:

August - No Meeting

14th September - Currency - Clifton Park Museum, Rotherham 10am-12pm

This month we will be learning about money in the past looking at when coinage was invented and in what situations archaeologists find it in now. We will have a look at a real hoard discovered in Rotherham and now in the musuem.

12th October - Excavation - Pontefract Castle, Pontefract 10.30am-12.30pm

This is a special oppotunity to take part in an excavation at Pontefract Castle in West Yorkshire with other local YACs. Places are limited for this.

2nd November - Stone Age - Experience Barnsley, Barnsley 1pm-3pm

This session will be all about the Stone Age. We'll head back to prehistory by looking at the musuem collection and then disocver what other clues the people of the stone age left in South Yorkshire. We will also try a few activities to simulate what their lives were like.

30th November - South Yorkshire Archaeology Day - Creative Lounge, The Workstation, Paternoster Row, Sheffield (Time TBC)

(Please note that is this is instead of our regular December meeting) Join us for the South Yorkshire Archaeology Day and the special session just for regional Young Archaeologists' Club members. The session will be an interactive session based around the archaeology of South Yorkshire.

4th January - TBC - Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley 10am-12pm


8th Feburary - TBC - Clifton Park Musuem, Rotherham 10am-12pm


7th March - TBC - Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley
