My name is Thomas and I thought this was a very interesting book filled with facts that I did not know before. For example, did you know that rich Romans ate Flamingos for dinner?

This book is specifically about the city of Rome during the Roman Empire. Every double page covers a different aspect of Roman life, including death and funerals, art and architecture, Roman clothes and trade (to name just a few). The book also has a very descriptive timeline and a glossary.

On every page there are photographs of Roman artifacts (original and reconstructions), as well as lots of detailed illustrations. For example, there are interesting cutaway drawings of a block of flats or insula, a Roman villa and the public baths.

I have read lots of books about ancient Rome but none had as much detail as this one.

I would recommend it for fluent readers who want to find out that little bit more about Ancient Rome.

Rating: I would give this book 10/10
