Worcestershire YAC explore Norton Collection Museum
During their Ferbuary meeting, Worcestershire YAC went to the Norton Collection Museum in Bromsgrove.
They were greeted by Dennis Norton, who had assembled the collection himself. He began collecting in 1949 when he worked for the Austin Motor Company in Longbridge, Birmingham. The items in the collection are very varied. They include objects related to cars and motorcycles; gramophones, cameras and cine film projectors; advertising signs; toys; a penny farthing bicycle; and much, much more!
At the end of our tour, we asked the members to pick their favourite item. The most popular was the shoe-shaped sidecar for Brighton's Shoe Shop, which was used to deliver shoes around the town. Other members chose objects from the old shops, such as the strange hair dryer and shoes from Brighton's shoe shop.
