Are you #FestivalReady?
With just over two weeks to go until the launch of the Festival, we're getting #FestivalReady! Try our daily listings here on the YAC website for ideas and inspiration... or for even more events, head over to the Festival website where you can search by postcode to find out what's on near you.
The Festival of Archaeology is coordinated by the Council for British Archaeology. This year the Festival will be happening at hundreds of places across the UK from 15th to 30th July. And there are more than 1,000 events already registered with more being added to the website every day!
Just a taster...
From tasting Iron Age inspired food to creating your own stone circle in clay, there are plenty of fun activities to keep the whole family entertained!
Enjoy learning new skills such as how to do a geophysical survey, how to identify real archaeological artefacts, or even how to create your very own Bronze Age jewellery! Get out your trowels and top up your digging skills on one of the many excavations taking place throughout the UK too!
At one of the many re-enactments happening during the Festival, you can get the opportunity to experience first-hand the way of life for many ancient people and perhaps even meet a few interesting characters along the way. It wouldn’t be archaeology without getting the chance to explore the lives of Ancient Romans, Greeks or Egyptians. You can even make your very own Egyptian god's mask during this year’s Festival of Archaeology.
With hundreds of fun activities, make sure you keep up to date by checking the YAC website for regular event suggestions over the next month!
