Visit Exeter’s city centre and discover mysterious medieval vaulted passageways beneath the city’s streets.
Originally built in the 14th and 15th centuries to bring fresh drinking water into the city, discover interactive exhibits and archaeological finds in the exciting interpretation centre before taking a guided tour underground.
Highlights include a talking medieval man, a high-speed video fly-through the Passages and a full size model of a section of the Passages. A visit also includes an exciting film presentation and a tour underground.
Exeter is the only city in the UK to have underground passages of this type and guided tours have taken place here since the 1930s. Today the passages are lit throughout, but still hold a fascination for all who enter.
Enjoy special events throughout the year including Easter Egg hunts, Beneath the Blitz tours, Halloween Witches & Wizards tours, Gory Stories and a Victorian Christmas.
Exeter’s Underground Passages are located in the city centre on Paris Street between the Next and Zara stores.
