Brecon Beacons YAC star in awesome film
A few months ago, members of Brecon Beacons YAC were invited to take part in the Brecon Beacons Heritage Day to be held at Theatre Brecheiniog in Brecon in October. The club jumped at the chance to show off about all of their aweome archaeological adventures, as Club Leader Sue Ware explains...
There was an opportunity to have a stand in one of the galleries at the exhibition and to appear on stage too. One of our members, Monty Radford, had already been involved in a film-making project so we asked him if he would make a film all about us to be shown at the theatre.
Monty (and his family) were keen to get involved and since then we have all been involved in the film-making process with filming and sound recording going on at our sessions over quite a few months. Monty put a huge amount of time and effort into the project and we were all looking forward to the seeing the film premiere on Sunday October 15th at the Brecon Beacons Heritage Day.
The big day!
By about 11.30 on the big day we were all at the theatre and looking forward to being on stage. What we did not expect was that the Chairman of Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, Melanie Doel (who was a BBC reporter for many years), planned to interview some of our members live on stage!
First Sue gave a talk introducing everyone to Young Archaeologists’ Clubs, who we are and what we do, and then the film came on. It was great and there was a huge round of applause at the end. Monty took a very well-deserved bow!
The interviews on stage were done by Chris, Henry and Maya. So a big thank you to them too for doing a great job representing Brecon Beacons YAC.
Our exhibition was visited by lots of people at the event and we could show off, for the first time, our new banner which was made especially for the day. You can see the banner in one of the photos. It looks very good and we can use it at lots of other events.
Monty's marvellous film...
