Leaders’ Weekend
The YAC Leaders’ weekend provides YAC volunteers with a chance to meet people from other Branches, swap ideas, and try out some new activities to get ideas for their Branches.
Upcoming Leaders’ Weekends
We are hoping through our fundraising efforts to re-instate YAC Leader Training including Leaders’ Weekends. Keep watching!
Past Leaders’ Weekends
2008 Leaders’ Weekend at Buster Ancient Farm
In 2008, the Leaders’ Weekend was held at Butser Ancient Farm, Hampshire. 46 Leaders from 26 Branches attended the Weekend the theme of which was experimental archaeology.
Leaders were given the opportunity to have a go at activities ranging from fresco painting to rabbit skinning! They ate a Roman feast and listened to some story telling before spending the night sleeping in an Iron Age roundhouse!
You can download the contents of the information pack, which contains activity suggestions based on experimental archaeology.
I think that the Leaders’ weekends are really valuable, not only for information to use with the children but for Leaders to get together and keep enthusiasm up (Wrexham Leader)
2007 Leaders’ Weekend at Bolton Castle
The 2007 event was held at Bolton Castle in Yorkshire and the theme was ‘Working with Historical Re-enactors’.
You can download the contents of the information pack, which contains activity suggestions based on re-enactment.
Thank you for letting me take part in this wonderful weekend. I have had a fantastic time and learnt so much! (Newcastle Leader)
This page is still in progress of being constructed and not all of the activities from the former YAC website have been uploaded. If you are in need of the details for a YAC activity which is currently unavailable, please do not hesitate to contact us at YAC HQ.
