I am the Head of the Young Archaeologists’ Club. This means that I look after the network of YAC Branches around the UK as well as being involved with YAC UK. I love to hear from young people about their interests and thoughts about archaeology and I particularly like thinking up new activities for YAC, especially if they are mucky or gory! Before I joined the CBA I helped to run a YAC Branch and really enjoyed exploring the past with my Branch.

When I was eight years old I visited an archaeology site as part of a school trip. I loved seeing how the archaeologists worked and discovering how the things they found could tell us so much about the lives of people in the past. I decided to study archaeology at university and went to the Institute of Archaeology at University College London. I have been lucky enough to take part in digs in different parts of the world as well as in the UK.

I enjoy working with young people so, after my degree, I trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education at the University of London. I have worked in primary and middle schools and loved teaching science, history and English. I also set up the education service at Piddington Roman Villa Museum which was a great way to share my interest in archaeology with visiting schools.

I think archaeology is a fantastic subject as it covers so many different areas and can lead you in many different directions. I hope you will have as much fun with archaeology as I have had!
